Uneventful evening last night. Concerns about blood clots have now been dismissed. Ultrasound came back negative-yeah!
Everyone agrees that his incision looks great, in fact Dr. Penn the infection control doc called Deuce a "super healer." Deucer gave Dr. Penn a big smile.
Our only hill to climb is to start feedings again today. Deuce is overall looking and feeling well. His normal cheery facial expression is back, he will laugh at your jokes. He says his stomach doesn't feel right but he has agreed to give food a try yet again today.
More later today!

I'm with Dana.. do you know any guys? What's with all the chicks???? Gees... get some bunny ears and tails and we could call you Hefner! Love to All! Jac
Hi Mary and Deuce!
Your Target friends are keeping y'all in our thoughts and prayers! Hey, Deuce-- great smile! Don't let Mary give you grief about your TV shows....we can tell stories about her, too!! Keep up the good work!
All the best to all of you!
Donna
Yippy! Skippy! I'm soooo glad to hear that everything came out negative. It's time to take the markers away from Mary though, I think she misses work to much :)
When they start your feedings, maybe you should ask the staff to stop feeding you cookies :)
Okay, back to work I go.
Maryann
P.S. I still think your a cutie!
Hey Deuce!
Just saying hi and leaving you some more crazy news items. Mary, you should read these out loud in an official newscaster-voice. Makes them even funnier!

A Georgetown University student, whose dad bought him a $2.4 million off-campus house and who wants his eight best friends to live (and party) with him, ran up against a Washington, D.C., zoning law permitting no more than six unrelated people per house. In October, after researching the issue, the students filed papers declaring themselves a "church" (The Apostles of O'Neill, after owner Brian O'Neill) because churches are allowed to house up to 15 unrelated people. O'Neill's dad supports the students, as judged from his testy response to a Washington Post inquiry: "Who says they aren't a (real) religion?" [Washington Post, 11-11-06]
------------------------------------
Surgeon Michael Koenig of Cologne, Germany, who said he was cheated out of thousands of dollars in fees by women who failed to pay for their breast enlargements, said in October that he had no photos of the women but did have photos of their new chests, and he gave them to the police, hoping they would somehow help in finding the women. [Reuters, 10-4-06]

The man who stole the safe from a Runza restaurant in Omaha, Neb., in October was forced to abandon it in the middle of a street when he realized his getaway plan (dragging it through town from the back of his car) attracted attention that he had somehow not anticipated. (He fled empty-handed.

At the county jail in Dubuque, Iowa, in November, Michael Kelley Jr., 29 and accused of attempted murder, was swapping stories with inmate Jamie Brimeyer, 34, when he asked about Brimeyer's facial scar. As Brimeyer described being stabbed in the cheek by an unknown assailant in 2005, Kelley realized that he was the one who had stabbed him and recalled the incident so well that he corrected some of Brimeyer's recollections. Brimeyer later reported Kelley, who is now also charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. [Des Moines Register, 11-6-06]

A teenager, 17, was booked into a juvenile detention center in Lynnwood, Wash., in October after he got his arm stuck in the dog door of a house he was allegedly attempting to burglarize. (Experienced burglars avoid houses with dog doors because that usually means that a dog is present.) And in Sheboygan, Wis., in November, police arrested Leah Jerolimek, 21, and charged her with trying to pass a counterfeit $20 bill at a gas station, even though the bill (made with a computer and printer) was blank on the back. [KOMO-TV (Seattle), 10-3-06] [Star Tribune (Minneapolis)-AP, 11-12-06]

New York City Episcopal priest Timothy Holder ("Poppa T"), whose HipHopEMass and "Hip Hop Prayer Book" have turned south Bronx youth into parishioners over the last two years, issued a music CD in November featuring Bible stories in street language. For example, the 23rd Psalm: "The Lord is all that / I need for nuthin' / he 'lows me to chill." [Reuters, 11-6-06]
Hey Deuce man. Hope the Jevity is going good today. Need to get some strength back so we can make the big move the the Summit. Love ya, Daddo
Hi, Mary and Deuce! I hate to hear that you're sick! Sounds like things are improving, though, and that's great to hear. Next time I see you I'll have a new baby to show you, so get well!!! (Due May 16) Can't wait to see you guys again and look forward to hearing from you. Mary, shoot me an email (it's changed to CrystalsCookin@hotmail.com instead of Alltel). I'll be praying for you.
Love ya,
Crystal
Ok, I'm a big dork (This is Carolyn H. - Dave's wife). I didn't know I could publish something by being "Anonymous" and not having to sign in. Phew! So here goes...
What a great blog Deuce! It's nice to have a face with a name and I hope to see more photos, especially soon with you back at home. We're pulling for this all to get behind you safely and as soon as possible.
Take care and keep the creative photos coming (although I won't hope for a photo of the morning cookie incident)
Thinking of you. -Carolyn H.
Hi Deuce (and Mary too). This is another one of Mary's Target co-workers, Leah (Leah W, not Leah T.) I used to work in a blanket factory, but it folded.
It sounds like you're making steady progress and I bet you're ready to go home.
Have you ever noticed that no matter what temperature a room is, it's always room temperature?
Speaking of temperature, it sure has dropped here in MN. (The fact that I was born and raised in MN obligates me to talk about the weather in every communication - sorry.)
Hey Duece, I got your blog site today, I am so glad I got it forwarded to me. It took me 15 min to figure out how to send you somthing I am not very computer saavy!! I hope that you are feeling better, you always keep everyone on their toes don't you!! Hey Deucer--Just received your BLOG info today and have read all about your unfortunate situation. YUCK! Hang in there. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. I will continue checking on you now that I know where to look. Great idea, Mary! Stay strong!
Love always, Trish (class of 93') P.S. I know you know that we graduated together --but other people checking on you might not)!
So here the story nerdboy, Michele and I were going to come up to see you last night before we picked her sister up at the airport. But we ended up leaving Lincoln too late (I am sure it was my fault in some way ...?). Then once we got up to Omaha we had to grab something to eat, well, more specifically I had to grab something to eat. We thought about just grabbing something at the hospital, but Deuce, we ate there after we came up to see you, and lets just say it was not all that good. Because of that, we decided to go somewhere else. By that time we had very little time before we had to pick Micheles sister up. We will be up at some point in the near future to see you, probably at QLI. Please know geekboy that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Dale
Hi Duecer and Mary,
This is Jon Jost. Kimberly's brother. Kimberly sent this link to me. It is great to see pictures of you and see how you are doing. Duecer, you have so many people who are caring for you. Wow! Your sister Mary is loves you so much and is a incredible person herself.
This is the first time I have been on a blog. I didn't really know what it was until know. Anyway, I will keep in contact with you and look forward to hearing and seeing your progress.
As for Marianella and I we are doing well here in Tallahassee. I am really busy at Florida State with our new coaches on staff and recruiting. We are looking forward to this off season and preparing to compete for an ACC and National Championship in the 2007 football season.
Duecer, you and your family are in our prayers!
Jon Jost
Hey Duece/Mare/Unc/Coonsie all of you hospital dwellers.
I LOVE THIS, one more thing that keeps me from getting my 'to do' list done! Not that I haven't been ignoring it for months now anyhow.
Tomorrow is Aunt Bonnie's birthday so we might all be getting together out west here with the new baby, new boyfriend and all that.
We have a 102 year old resident at our Assisted Living, and he always shares very lame jokes, so I shall share one with you...
Two little boys are out fishing and one says to the other, 'did you know my pa has a wooden leg?'
The other boy says "Shoot, that's nothing. My sister has a cedar chest."
HA! remember, he's 102.
OK, I should ty and do something with my day. I hope your day is nothing but shining and GREAT!
Get yourself better Deuce!
Love ya all!
HOLLY JEAN
